"A Man-Made Oasis: Chaliat's Unique Forest Depot and Botanical Haven"
Tourists wonder where the forest is on the shore. True, it
is a forest without a forest. Chaliat has only a depot
where mature teak and other trees are cut from the forests
and stored. The forest office and EV TEU procure the trees
from here by auction and send them to other countries by
ship and vehicle. Along with this, more than 400 plants
mentioned in Hortus Malabaricus were planted here. This
gives us the experience of a small man-made forest
